Extract from "An American Panorama 1789-1912" illustrating the years 1858-65 when Lincoln was elected President, and led the Union to victory over the C.S.A. in the Civil War.

13-14 The Irish Empire - Peter Wood
Ireland, the country, people and Irish diaspora.

15-16 Black Gold - Miller McGrath FRPSL
" Black Gold" was the name given to crude oil. The display ranges from the origin of oil, through exploration, production, storage and transportation.

17-18 Alternative Medicine - Jacque Benham
The display covers the development of Alternative Medicine from the Witch Doctor to modern day, using drugs extracted from plants and covers Homeopathy, Aromatherapy and Herbalism.

19-20 Carto Philately - Tony Farmer FRPSL
An introduction to our world in miniature starting with Gondwanaland and its drift into five continents discovered and mapped by the early explorers. Projecting a round object on a flat surface created anomalies that compromise the accuracy of land mass or sailing direction. These became routes for navigation, exploration, roads, rail and air, and also communications and oil pipes etc. Errors were made depicting these miniature maps, disputes arose over ownership and propaganda.

23-24 The Versatile Scallop - Erica Banks
Scallop shells and their uses in philately

25 From Rocks to Riches - Anne Stammers The story how minerals are taken from rocks and become items of beauty. This display will show precious metals and diamonds.

26-27 The Book of Hours - Guild of St. Gabriel
The making and usage of a private prayer book, commonly called "A Book of Hours", and most popular in mediaeval times.

28-29 Tell it in Print - Wendy Buckle
The history of printing in Europe, and development of the industry to the present day.

30-31 Shackleton - David Wiskin
Part of a larger display telling the story of Ernest Shackleton's life. The display covers the British Antarctic Expedition 1907 and the Trans-Antarctic Expedition 1914. It gives an insight into Shackleton's Character and courage, under what were very gruelling conditions.

An introduction to the game of golf, emphasising its history and the equipment used. With the popularity of the game, much diverse philatelic material is available for the collector.

44-45 For a Love of Ships - Peter Denly FRPSL
This display records the progression from simple country craft to modem specialised ships and yachts, and is a testament to the naval architects, builders, and seafarers and their love of ships.

Continuous improvements to the bicycle have insured its success in sport and the utility bicycle is still used for the delivery of mail.

48 From Vine to Wine - Sheila Foster
While little appears to have changed in wine production over many centuries, the industry has expanded greatly since parts of the world have become more affluent and demand for wine has increased.

49 Proverbs - Sheila Foster
Many still-current proverbs refer to obsolete customs, but have retained their popularity as a homely commentary of life as a reminder that the wisdom of our ancestors may still be useful to us today.

50-51 Postal Stationery - John Hayward
This display comprises postal stationery from 1898 to the present day showing a whole variety of themes.

52 Astronomy - Margaret Morris FRPSL
A selection of pages featuring a few observatories of mainland Europe, taken from a large collection on the theme of Astronomy. Some of these establishments have fascinating histories.
