Experts - Conditions

All stamps submitted to the Expert Committee are accepted entirely at the senders' risk.

Please ensure submissions are received at least 7 days prior to meeting date so that working papers can be prepared and the items checked against the Committee's records.

Expert Meeting Dates

The meeting of 2 June has now closed and the next available meeting is 14 July 2010. Please note that the Expert Committee has raised it's fees starting from their June meeting 2010.

To facilitate more efficient handling items can only be accepted when each item is sent with a completed submission form.

Approximately four weeks from the date of the Committee Meeting are needed to complete the processing. If further consultations are required, this period may be extended.

Conditions on which stamps are received for examination:

Every reasonable care is taken of specimens sent in for examination, but they are received and will be dealt with subject to these conditions, and in particular, the stipulations set out below, and any person sending in specimens shall be bound by the same and all things theretofore done by the Committee in accordance with the same.

The stipulations are as follows:-

• 1. The Committee shall be at liberty at their sole discretion to forward any specimens received by them to any expert (whether residing in Great Britain or abroad) for his examination thereof and observations thereon.
• 2. Neither the Society nor, except for his own wilful act as distinguished from carelessness or negligence, shall any member of the Committee or assistant/s to the Committee be in any way liable to the owners or any other person interested:
  (a) For the loss of or any damage to any specimen by whomsoever (including any employee or assistant/s of the Society or any Expert or any photographer to whom the same may be sent) caused, or for the acts or defaults of the Government or post of this or any other Country or Colony. (b) For the results of any opinion which the Committee may express as
  to any specimen so sent in, or for any loss (Financial or otherwise) which may be suffered by any person as a result of any such opinion. In these conditions the singular shall include the plural, the masculine gender shall include the feminine, and any reference to a person shall include a corporation, firm, or two or more individuals of either sex.
• 3. Insurance in transit or while in the Committee's control is not covered by the Company and is the responsibility of the owner.
• 4. Items will be photocopied/photographed and may be subjected to Ultra-Violet and/or Infra-Red light during examination.

Please ensure we receive the total amount of payment due by informing your bank that ALL charges are for your account. If we incur bank charges on your payment, payment for these will be requested.

Dollar cheque. While we can accept dollar cheques, the bank charge for cashing these is very high – please add £10 to invoiced amount to cover these costs.

It is possible to send cash (at your own risk) by registered post. If not sending sterling, please add 2% to the invoice total for the commission the bank will charge converting to sterling.

All submissions need to be paid for before items are returned. To speed the process, if paying by credit card, please send me your card details now either by post or fax 0044 2074875122 If using another method I will invoice you when your items are ready, and then I will send them immediately following your payment.
