Plate - Electro-letterpress - Egypt: 1872-1875 Sphinx and Pyramid design 2½ piastres - a small plate of twelve (4x3) electro plated clichés, an examination of the detail indicates that these are apparently crude forgeries, although a rubbing undertaken in 1987 by John A Grimmer (of the Egypt Study Circle) said that he did 'not think it is possible to identify it with certainty as forged, or as deriving from either the first (1872) or the second (1874/5) printing.'
