Philatelic Collections
The idea of the Society developing a philatelic collection dates back to April 1870
but the project did not really get underway until May 1907. On the suggestion of
H.R. Oldfield, the Council made the important decision to form a reference
collection of stamps, forgeries, reprints, photographs with the primary purpose
of assisting the Expert Committee in their work.
The Philatelic Collections is
managed by a team of four
volunteers and operates
separately to the library and
museum. For further
