Welcome to the Royal Philatelic Society London

Thank you for your interest in joining our Society

We are the oldest surviving philatelic society in the world (over 150 years). We have the Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as we have had of the British Monarch since 1906. Joining our Society will give you contact with nearly 2500 other members, all of whom have similar interests in philately, and who are wanting to have you as a fellow member, a colleague, and a friend. The benefits of membership include:

  • Joining a happy group of people in a worldwide organisation who regard philately as a serious hobby that creates interest, value, and friendship.

  • Access to, and use of, our premises at 15 Abchurch Lane in the City of London, where we regularly hold meetings with displays of some of the finest collections available, often by renowned philatelists.

  • Attend meetings showcasing highlights from collections from around the world. Learn how to take part and display at events. Opportunities to display yourself, usually at Regional Meetings.

  • Access to our Expert Committee, for their opinion on philatelic material, at a favourable rate, and as a member two submissions per year for only the handling fee (currently £15).
  • Receipt of our learned journal The London Philatelist ten times a year, providing around 500 pages of interesting philatelic articles and news.

  • The John Sacher Library, one of the most comprehensive libraries of philatelic literature in the world, as well as the latest catalogues and more than 230 current periodicals.

  • The Members’ sections of our website, opening an archive of lectures and displays not otherwise available.

  • Member's discount on the price of the books that we publish.

  • After nomination, Fellowship of the Society may be awarded by Council to members who have given special service to Philately.
