Welcome to the Royal Philatelic Society London's Virtual Booth

Let us introduce ourselves to you. We are an International Society of nearly 2500 members worldwide, 60% of whom live outside the UK. To read our Mission Statement in English or in other languages, please click on the relevant flag above.

As we have members throughout the UK and around the world, we have organised regional Representatives who co-ordinate activities for the members and guests in their regions. The home of philatelic excellence, expertise and friendship, our library holdings, collections and archives go back to the beginning of the postage stamp and beyond.

We welcome new members who share our aims and objectives, from wherever in the world they may be. If you are interested in the benefits of membership of the Society, then click here for Membership Information including the application form.

Meetings

We hold meetings and have a lecture programme, whereby members present philatelic material in the meeting rooms and give talks on the subject.

We also hold virtual meetings using Zoom video conferencing, which allow our members and invited guests from all over the world to readily join the meetings.

In order that members who do not attend may view the meetings (both the physical ones and those held online) we make available to members videos of the meetings. Click here to view a selection of these videos that are available on the Society's YouTube channel.

The John Sacher Library

The John Sacher Library houses an extensive collection of books, catalogues and journals about essentially every aspect of philately and postal history.

The Spear Museum of Philatelic History

The Spear Museum of Philatelic History at the Royal Philatelic Society London incorporates the Society's Archive. Over the decades, the RPSL has acquired a large collection of artefacts and records that are currently housed in our Museum. The collections have high historic and monetary value and are a valuable resource for research on many aspects of philatelic development and exhibition. In keeping with its standing as a learned society with a worldwide reputation for excellence, the RPSL invests considerable resources on improving the conservation and preservation of the Museum collection. It is an Arts Council England Accredited Museum, open to the public for you to visit and see the artefacts and records.

Philatelic Collections

We have some very interesting Philatelic Collections, which may be viewed by arrangement with the Curator of these Collections. Please click here to see some items from the collections.

Research

The John Sacher Library, the Society's Archive and the Spear Museum of Philatelic History all provide a wonderful resource for research. To help with the research, our website has an online Catalogue that you can use to search for information of interest to you. The Catalogue contains records of not only items held by the RPSL, but also by other philatelic libraries in numerous countries.

Please click here for more information about the Society's library, museum and the philatelic collections.

The Royal Philatelic Society London will be taking a stand at Virtual Stampex that has been rescheduled to 25th – 27th March 2021.

The President’s Dinner originally scheduled for 19th February 2021 has been cancelled owing to health restrictions.

There will be a President’s Dinner in conjunction with the Palmares for London 2022 on Friday 25th February 2022 at the Guildhall London. Tickets already booked may be transferred and invitations to participate will be made in due time.

The RPSL has been invited to show 50 (16 sheet) frames at the GREAT AMERICAN STAMP SHOW in Chicago at the Rosemont Convention Center 12-15 August 2021. This is one of the largest National shows in the US and they have invited our International participation. There are no frame fees, material will be treated as for an FIP exhibition in terms of collection, carriage charges, display and return but is non-competitive, rather like a Court of Honour. This invitation is for members only - please respond to vp-petercockburn@rpsl.org.uk.

The regional Representatives organise meetings in their regions, including online meetings, as appropriate.
