Airmail cover with 1 An., 3 An. (2) and 6 An. (2) from Bagdad (8.12), with violet
double-ring "FORWARDED BY I E.D. SASSOON CO LTD/ BAGDAD" and boxed
red "BY AIR SERVICE", sent to their office in London. This service was used for
urgent and important mail. From the l 8'1t century, the Sassoons were one of the
wealthiest families in the world, with a merchant empire spanning the continent of
Asia.
