from intended base location. Cover datestamped and taken with first Tabarin mail

taken by SS Fitzroy departing that day with the first Tabarin mail, docking Stanley on 29 February
Despatched on 6 March aboard SS Fitzroy to Montevideo, for onward transport to a South American address,
the British Naval Attaché, Santiago

This ‘Official’ mail was retained for many years by the British Government as evidence of operating postal
systems thereby adding creditability and substance to their assertion of Sovereignty of the four Dependencies
