Letter datelined achinaw I land 1\1ichigan and carried to
Chicago for mailing. This letter contains man interesting
comments on the conditions encountered by the writer
during their travels to that point through the United States.

Back of cover showing the recieving marks applied upon arrival in
England. The black "LIVERPOOL/SHIP LETTER" is Roberston
type S14 in use 183 8 - 1841. The red, single London receiving mark
indicates evening processing. The red dimpled mark was applied
when letter entered the London Two Penny Post system. The letter
was delivered by the Bixton Hill Receiving House, operated by Joseph
Greening. The receiving house was in Mr. Greening's Bakery and
Confectioner shop. Locations similiar to this shop were typical of the
London Two Penny Postal System receiving houses.
