1880-1899 ROULETTED ISSUE

        In 1880 _Chile joined the UPU and the colours of the low values had accordingly to be changed. In addition  there  .
     was a design  change  in  that all  the new supplies were to be the same design  as  the recently issued 50  centavos
     stamp (that is without the bar across the value tablet).

     The 5 centavos carmine first appeared Nov.16th  1880. followed by the 2 centavos rose-carmine Feb.5th 1881  and
     the 1 centavo green Aug.8th 1881 . Other values appeared as follows:
                                             5 centavos blue July 1 oth 1883
                                              50 centavos violet Feb.1885
                                             10 centavos yellow April 1885
                                              20 centavos grey Feb.1886
                            15 centavos grey-green, 25 centavos chestnut &  I peso Feb. 1892
                                              30 centavos rose May 1899
     The 5 centavos stamp of the old series became exhausted before the new supplies arrived.  Thus 5 centavo fiscals
     and odd remainders of the 1867 issue were authorized for postal use. Later on 1 & 2 centavo fiscals were also used.
