GB Parliamentary & Other Stories

A social and postal history display covering British Parliamentary

correspondence and associ?ted documentation over almost two
hundred years. I have chosen to disregard Brexit, as I believe
we've all beard and read enough on this subject for our lifetime,

and so I'll leave it to a future historian to elucidate!

No parliamentary party is particularly covered, rather a mostly
chronological showing with photographs where thought
appropriate. Many people are mentioned, some of high-born
                  status, and others not so.

Some of these writers of envelopes, cards and correspondence

were well known, and there are others whose fame has remained
strong through the years. Many are but a footnote to history.
                                                                  1

Delivery of letters will have included messenger on horseback,
mail coach, mail train' as well as more recent road transportation.
Let us not forget the postal delivery man, woman or boy. My local

delivery man informs me his daily walk route totals 14 miles. I
                  was truly impressed and amazed.

                                                                        0
The display frames include Free Fronts of the 1816-39 period,
cachets from departments of Parliamentary offic~s, mail from

Members of Parliament to constituents, and covers from one MP
to another delivered by messeng~r, or by post. Many have a story
to tell about the sender, and the recipient.
