There were many vociferous objections to the reduction of the Size K envelopes. These were from major commercial organisations who needed the larger size for weekly wages, legal documents,
piles of football pool coupons etc. The Post Office backtracked and in Feb 1968 issued a temporary envelope (top) measuring 168 x 305 mm with a pasted front, and then in Aug 1968 reverted to the
original Size K (bottom) at 152 x 291 mm. Post Office Archives (File POST 122/10215-6) has a great deal of detail on this subject. Die 11 was used for the temporary issue and Die 6 for the final one.
