This section includes envelopes where the postage, if applicable, had to be paid in addition to the indicium. These were used for overseas and forces mail. Although the sizes were
exactly the same as the inland equivalent envelopes, the Post Office stock number had a ‘2’ added to facilitate stock control and ordering.
Indicium 6d - Overseas
Issued specifically for use for use on overseas mail on 1 Jun 1956. These envelopes were also used by the British Armed Forces based overseas. Other than for military personnel on
active service, additional adhesives were always required to pay the postage. The overseas registration fee was 6d between 1 May 1952 and 30 Sep 1957.
