Indicium 1s - Overseas or Forces Overseas
The overseas registration fee was 1s from 1 Oct 1957 to 31 Jan 1961, covering a maximum compensation of £2 18s. In comparison, the inland
registration fee had become 1s on 1 Jun 1956. The registered envelopes with a 1s indicium were intended to be used by members of the Forces.
The headings on the G2 and H2 sized envelopes read ‘Forces Overseas Registered Letter’, although the K2 size did not have the word ‘Forces’.
Dies 1 to 4 were registered on 13 Jan 1959, and the issued G2 and K2 envelopes were registered on 16 Jul 1959. The H2 size appears not to
have been registered.
