1928, INTERNAL AIR MAILS, BAGDAD TO ABU SUWEIR
The normal practice on flights from Hinaidi (Baghdad airport) to Egypt was for the
pilots to stop one night at Ziza near Amman or at Ramleh in Palestine and also take
on fuel at one ofthe landing points. However on the.flight ofthe 141" October 1928
the Vickers Victoria J 8233 piloted by Flying Officer Switzer and crewed by LAC
Cox (mechanic) and LAC Sharp (wireless operator) completed the flight non stop.
A telegram was sent by the Commanding Officer in Baghdad to the RAF Depot at
Abu Suweir congratulating the pilot and crew.
