1929, special Flight Bagdad-Cairo-London. As the Airliner left Bagdad early - as per the

-enclosed cutting - the mail was taken by RAF to Cairo, but returnedfrom there.

                                                          sclieduled time without c.'Ollecting the
                                                               hcaxy local mail.
                                                                  The liui>r, which was due here this
                                                               morning, arrived last 11ight. No ex-
                                                               planation of the early departure to-day
                                                               was offered to the lraq authorities.
                                                                  The Air Force endeavoured to cope
                                                               wit.h the emergency by detailing three
                                                         Service machines t<> oarry the Iraq
                                                               mails to Cairo in the endeavour to over-
                                                               take the air liner there.
                                                                  They duly left, but !Jhe la.test informa-
                                                          tion iĀ» that tthe liner, which was due to
                                                        stop at Gaza to-night, continued its
                                                               journey to Cairo, where it arrived safely,
                                                               and then Jeft again for Alexandria
                                                                  Among the passengers on the liner
                                                               waa Viscount Chetwynd, chairman of
                                  - - -Imperial Airways.-Reuter.
