SUPERIORITY 1830-1837 The Canada
BLACK BALL LINE
By 1830 American packets making regular voyages between New
York, Liverpool and London dominated North Atlantic sailing lanes.
Black Ball packets departed on the 1st and 16th of the month, Red
Star ships on the 25th, Blue Swallowtail line on the 8th to Liverpool.
Departing for London were Black X on the 16th and Red Swallowtail
on the 1st. Thus six monthly sailings provided companies in America
and England communication links for their growing business interests.
