SUPERIORITY 1830 - 1837 The George Washington

Due to prevailing westerly winds and the Gulf Stream,
easterly packet crossings were short compared to westerly
crossings, taking usually 14 to 16 days. On this easterly
crossing, the George Washington experienced four days of
easterly winds causing her crossing to require 21 days.
