                                                                 personification  of  Switzerland.  The
                                                                 name  of  this  allegorical  figure  is
                                                                 derived  from  the  Helvetii,  a  Gaulish
                                                                 tribe that inhabited the Swiss plateau
                                                                 prior to the Roman conquest.
