       CG State 3 (Plate 1b); EL State 2 (Plate 1b). Tain to Dingwall. Boxed “TAIN / JU 5 / 41” datestamp in
       black on the reverse.


             In December 1840, between the end of the printings in black and the start of printing in red, 45 of the 240
             positions, including  position CG, were re-entered, creating a third state for these plate positions. Position
             EL was not re-entered or repaired following the printings in black, so it remained in the second state for
             the remaining life of the plate
