The home of philatelic excellence, expertise and friendship.
Our mission is the advancement of education by promoting, encouraging, and contributing to the scientific study and practice of philately in all its branches for the benefit of the public. We achieve this through providing a building and facilities, and we provide advocacy, advice and information. In this respect we act as a resource body for the benefit of the general public. "The Royal", as we are universally known, is committed to moving with the times.
Our website has two aims:
- To make the services of the Society available to our fellows and members who cannot visit us in London.
- To fulfil our charitable objectives by making information and resources available to the worldwide philatelic community.
We have over 1150 overseas members, almost 900 members in the United Kingdom, and our libraries, collections and archives go back to the beginning of the postage stamp and beyond.
We welcome new members who share our aims and objectives, from wherever in the world they may be. We hope that you find much of value here, and of course there is more for members than for the casual user.
We welcome feedback, comment and suggestions, positive, or less so. If you wish to join the Society, or simply to know more about the benefits of membership, please click here.
With best wishes, Peter Cockburn, President
