Indicium 8½d with 6d Extra Registration
D
Following the short-lived print run of just the 6 EXTRA additional printing, a new design with the heading INLAND REGISTERED LETTER and the corrected compensation figures
on the back. These envelopes were in normal use for just over a year from June 1956 until the appearance of the envelopes with an embossed 1s 2½d indicium in autumn 1957.
Small differences have been noted in the layout of the blue letterpress printing on the Size F, G and H envelopes. Photographs of the production process at McCorquodales
show that the envelopes were cut before being printed, which suggests that over the course of the production multiple letterpress plates were used.

Essays of the 6 EXTRA design are held by the Postal Museum in London, but none are available to collectors.
