Jaganerie Cancellers used on stamm of Hona Kona &qggin Naaasaki TJamnl
-Naaasaki 1860 1879
The postal agency at Nagasaki was opened on 1 January 1860. From the period of six years
before its own obliterator arrived, only two covers have been reported. The N2 obliterator and
the accompanying Nagasaki c.d.s., were available at the end of 1866, but as in other cases
N2 was not taken into use for cancelling outgoing mail for a number of years. N2 is known on
a few pieces, and on a pair of 4c grey. On single adhesives it is known on most of the eaily
issues, but is one of the rarer of the Treaty Port Obliterators; some forty-two copies are
recorded.
