Lunar Probes [2]

June 18, 2009. LRO (Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter) was launched from the Cape Canaveral Air Force
Station atop an Atlas V launcher. It was the first American mission to the Moon in over ten years and
was equipped with sensors and asset control designed and produced by Selex Galileo (Florence, Italy).

October 9, 1009. The LCROSS (Lunar CRater Observation and Sensing Satellite) satellite deliberately
impacts in the crater Cabeus in search of water, guided by the Star Tracker A-STR, built by Selex
Galileo (Florence, Italy). Cover postmarked in Pasadena, where is based the Jet Propulsion
Laboratory controlling the Mission.
