October 15, 1997. Launch of Cassini aboard a Titan IVB/Centaur rocket. Cassini was a NASA-ESA-
ASI robotic spacecraft sent to the Saturn system. It included the Cassini Saturn orbiter (NASA) and the
Huygens (ESA/ASI) atmospheric probe/lander for the Titan moon. Commemorative cover cancelled
with a special postmark in KSC the day of launch.
June 2, 2003. Launch of Mars Express. the first Mars mission by ESA. The satellite was integrated by
Alenia and included two Italian instruments: PFAS, spectrometer for infrared analysis implemented by
ISFI (Rome, Italy) and MARSIS (Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionosphere Sounding).
Commemorative cover cancelled in Baikonur on the date of launch.
