THE SOUTH GEORGIA DEPENDENCY ERA
Postally, key changes were the introduction of the first issue South Georgia stamps, as previously available but
overprinted and new datestamps. Rates remained unaltered. This new issue was delivered by Operation Tabarin on
24 February 1944 when calling at Grytviken at the end of their first season, en route from Antarctica to Stanley
The general release was delayed until issued without any prior publicity on 3 April 1944
