The city of Pori at the mouth of the river Kokemaenjoki on the Gulf ofBothnia has
become unsuitable for modem ships due to the river silting-up. New port facilities
have been developed at Ma.ntyluoto at the river mouth. A Navire maritime postmark
has been available at Pori since 1977 but is little used. No official maritime postmark
has been issued for use at MAntyluoto. However, in 1985 an 'unofficial' Navire
postmark was acquired and widely used on sea mail arriving at Mantyluoto.
