1914 Overseas Postage
In the absence of a pre-printed value for the overseas rate, cards were often uprated to make the correct postage
23 July 1914: card addressed to Zittau, in Saxony, Germany, and uprated for the foreign postcard rate
with additional 5c Tell Boy adhesive. Posted at Altstetten, Canton Zürich. Note: with a message of less
than five words this card would have been treated as printed matter (5c) had it been marked ‘Imprime’

Pestalozzi and Anna Schulthess first
met in 1767 at the funeral of a
mutual friend. Due to their different
levels of status, they were forced to
meet in secrecy until their marriage
in 1769, to avoid the wrath of Anna's
wealthy parents.
Sale Price: 20c, with 15c donated to the Pestalozzi Foundation “Neuhof” (New Farm)
at Birr in Canton Aargau, home for underprivileged young people.
