1878 50 Centavos Mauve (new design with no bar across the value tablet)

This value was introduced (in a modified design) to be used for franking heavier weight parcels and packets.
These earlier printings were in a mauve shade whereas the later printings from Feb.1885 were in a richer deeper
shade of violet.
