THE PRIME MINISTER 7 March 1996 -'

Thank you for your letter of 12 February, passing on the views of

Mr. Dane Garrod of 13 Rutherford Close, Abingdon, concerning recognition of

the service given to the nation by Her Majesty The Queen.

I entirely agree with Mr. Garrod that the nation has many reasons to

thank Her Majesty for Her services to the British people and indeed to the

Commonwealth. I can assure Mr. Garrod that the Government will ensure that

as significant an anniversary as The Queen's Golden Jubilee is celebrated
appropriately. ~
