Hungarian Postoffices in the Levant
Letters out of these harbours could be mailed via Constantinopel instead of Vienna,
so we find a very unusual handling of these covers in both directions- they are marked PD. and PE. D.-
even the rate does not cover the route to the addressee but only to Constantinople from Greece
or to the Greek border from Roumania - the receiver had to pay the rest!
• Letter from Kymi 1. 3. 1869 via Athens 3. 9. franked with 40 L. to Constantinople 20. 3.
from there to pay 10 x (right above)= 10 Kr. to lbrai/a 23.3.1869
e LS from Galatz 8.4.1868 franked with 30 Soldi to the Greek border
taxed in Corfu 9.4. with 20 Lepta inlandrate
this combination-franking of group 1 went most probably via Constantinople
because this letter was handled like a Levante- Cover and not as mail via Vienna
even it was paid with 30 Soldi
