CYGNUS
September 18, 2013. Launch of the Cygnus PCM-0 demo mission from Wallops Island. In its
successful maiden flight Cygnus delivers to ISS 680 kg of supplies, spare parts, student experiments
and personal crew items. Cover postmarked at Wallops Island on the day of launch.
September 28, 2013. Successful rendezvous of Cygnus after a first attempt failed due to computer data
link problem and discrepancies of GPS data between ISS and Cygnus. The spacecraft is grappled by
the Canadarm-2 robotic arm operated by Luca Parmitano, supported by the colleague Karen Nyberg,
and guided to the Nadir berthing port of the ISS Harmony module, another pressurized module built in
Italy by Thales Alenia Space. Cover postmarked of the day of docking with the special postmark of
Houston – ISS Mission Control Station that supported the operation.
