Automated Transfer Vehicle – ATV-5
July 30, 2014. ATV-5 Georges Lemaitre is launched from Kourou, carrying 4,5 tons of dry cargo,
refuelling propellant, water and air to ensure the continued operation of the ISS. Also Italian “bonus
space food” prepared under the supervision of ARGOTEC (Turin, Italy) is delivered to the
International Space Station. Commemorative launch cover cancelled in Kourou with the special Ariane
Launch postmark.
400 covers stored in the French Kit were carried to the ISS by ATV-5 Georges Lemaitre. The kit was
returned to Earth on Feb 11th 2015 onboard the SpaceX/Dragon CRS-5 and recovered as low priority
cargo. All the postal items were cancelled with the special “ISS Mission Control Station” at NASA,
