Scan of letter back showing the marks pertinent to the voyages of the
letter. New York forwarding agent placed their red oval stamp on the
left side of back and the Liverpool authorities placed the black
"LIVERPOOL/SHIP LETTER" stamp to indicate a ship letter.
Dublin authorities applied red diamond in upper left of back and this
is Mackay type 134. Belfast authorities applied black "BELFAST/MY
2/1839/ in lower right corner. This is Mackay type 139.
This letter shows two different rates that were possible during the time
of mailing. This is first example of this type of usage during my 40 +
years of collecting this material.
