In 1987 a Swedish registered ferry the Alandsfiirjan (Alands ferry) was added to the
Viking Line fleet of ferries sailing on the Sweden to Aland route.
This ferry sailed from the port of.Kapellska.r on the west coast of Sweden north of
Stockholm to Mariehamn in the Aland Islands. The Mariehamn pictorial 'Navire'
maritime postmark applied on arrival.

In 1993 the ferry's route was extended to Naantali in south western Finland. The ship
was withdrawn from service and sold in 2008.
