In the sleepy bushland town of Senhit in Egyptian occupied Eritrea, stood a small Egyptian post office
that received neither stamps nor handstamps during its short life of 7 years; 1877-1883. This letter
had been posted there, the Arabic in the red oval reads "From Senhit near Massawa", it was
dispatched to the port of Massawa - how and when is anybody's guess - where it was taxed 2
piastres, then shipped to Suez and finally overland to Cairo. Backstamps indicate a date of 1881.
