Some two months after the death of his wife Mary, daughter of the 7th Earl of Abingdon, Edmund FitzAlan-Howard
writes to the Reverend Charles Carr of the Westminster Catholic Club in St. George's Square, London SWI. FitzAlan
served as Deputy Earl Marshal during the minority of his nephew the 16th Duke of Norfolk, and later as the last Lord
Lieutenant of Ireland, from April 1921 to December 1922.
