The 2nd Earl of Ancaster (1867-1951), who, as Lord Great Chamberlain from 1936 until his death in 1951, had charge
over the Palace of Westminster, especially of the House of Lords. Hence his name as authorising the ticket for a
Standing Place in the North Gallery of the House of Lords for the Opening of Parliament on 15 August 1945.
