July 29, 1985. The Spacelab igloo configuration flew for the first time with the Space Shuttle‟s
mission STS-51F. Experiments covered life sciences, plasma physics, astronomy, high energy
astrophysics, solar physics, atmospheric physics and technology research. The most publicized payload
was the Carbonated Beverage Dispenser Evaluation, experimented by both Coca-Cola and Pepsi.
December 10, 1990. Shuttle Columbia returns to Edward at the end of the mission STS-35 that delivered
into space ASTRO-1, the Spacelab configuration devoted to astronomical observations with four
telescopes.
