Over 2 million copies of the 20c were printed from Plate I, of which 300,000 were of a lighter red colouring (from a later printing).
A further printing (Plate II), with the plinth redrawn, was released for sale in early April.

Seven covers with the Plate II adhesive are known to exist with a date of 4 April, preceding the release date recorded by Zumstein by two days.
