Forgeries
These stamps can he found with fönr diffh1ent förged surcharges. Jackson Selsor gives the most accurate
account (Journal 31 I 9S-6). lt is assumed that Foumier fogpxl the S CENTS on 8 cents as the clic~ is
represented in the Geneva album but I haven't seen any examples that exactly correspond to it

I. 3 CENTS: appears to be typeset, tJ' is too sma1l and directly over the 'N' of cents; 'CENTS' too large. letters too thin
2. S CENTS: poorly struck, letters of 'CENTS' far too large and differ considerably in shape from the genuine

1) Surcharge similar to the genuine but the ascenders are thinner than tbe genuine. Was for a time listed in Gibbons as a
