In 1954 a new type of the 'ship' maritime cachet was brought into use at Vaasa
mainly for use on the ferries operating on the route to Sundsvall in central Sweden.
A bi-lingual Finnish I Swedish inscription was incorporated into the cachet and
translates as 'By ship from Sweden'. This mark was usually struck in lilac ink.
