Aland Maritime Mail Postmarks
A number of different maritime mail postmarks have been used on the mail posted on
ships sailing to and from the Aland Islands. The islands lie on the main
shipping route between Finland an Sweden.
The first recorded paquebot mark was in the 'ship' design which was first used on
uncancelled mail arriving by sea at Mariehamn in 1934.
This mark continued in intermittent use until 1957
