S S Drottningholm
Until November 1928, there was no postal office
on board the SAL liners. The Stockholm had been
sold in 1928. The first liner built specifically for
the SAL, the Gripsholm, started service in 1925
and a second, the Kungsholm, had its maiden
voyage in November 1928. This signalled the
introduction of a full postal service on board each
of the three liners.
Postcard written and posted on the day of arrival
in Goteborg from New York. The sender has stated
that the Drottningholm landed at 5 a.m.
[on 31May1928].
