MS Gripsholm (1925)
After this cruise the Gripsholm reverted to its Atlantic runs until the following winter. The 1933 Winter
Cruise varied the route, starting in Goteborg on 9 February before taking in Boulogne, Southampton,
Casablanca, Dakar, Trinidad, Cartagena, Colon, Havana, Kingston, St Pierre and Fort de France on
Martinique, Funchal and Lisbon. It returned to Goteborg on 26 March 1933 having stopped to drop off
passengers at Southampton and Boulogne.
Similar philatelic arrangements were made for passengers for this cruise with a new special SJP 70 hand-
stamp and a cachet for each stage of the cruise. The SAL produced a postcard showing the route of the
cruise and also made available a postcard showing the Gripsholm. In addition a range of Swedish stamps
and postal stationery was available.
