The maiden voyage commenced from Goteborg on 24 November 1953.
On the occasion a special date-stamp with "Goteborg - New York" was in use and a cachet applied for the
maiden voyage in the English language.

Examples exist with other dates. This example was carried on the outward voyage with the date-stamp for
the arrival in New York of 4 December 1953. This was not struck on the US stamp which has the New
York Morgan Sta[tion]cancel of 9 December, the date that the Kungsholm departed from New York for its
return to Sweden.
