This was recut from the original hand stamp then issued on the 22nd December 1855. It is recorded used between
24th January 1856 and gth July 1857. It has a scarcity rating of A common.
Above you can see two examples of this hand stamp. The first lovely example is seen on six Id reds paying the 6d
postage to Sydney New south Wales Australia. It is scarce to see six Id reds paying a 6d rate as there were 6d stamps

available. It is dated the 13 h May I856 and it shows the code M2. The second example is seen on a Id postal
stationery envelope posted to Richmond Hill Surrey and is dated the 3rd January I857 and shows the code M2.
