4 cents and 8 cents values

        . Two new values were urgently required, 4 cents for local area registration and 8 cents for letters to Singapore
         and Hong Kong (Handbook, p47). They were dispatched from London in May 1883. Although the design is
         very similar to the 2 cent stamp on close comparison of the design detail, such as the lion, it is evident tbat
         new dies bad been engraved for both the new values.

         Specimen: 8c perforated with the first 3 letters of'CANCELLED'











         Issued Stamps: Believed to be two printings, both rough perf. 11 Yi -12. Multiples are scarce.
                              Yellowish gum (as original 2c) therefore po~ibly the first printing












                                Missperf: Perf.  12 horizontally across centre (printers waste?)











                                               White Gum, different shades











                                  4c Horizontal pair, imperf. between, plated as #33 & 34
                                     (extremely rare, only two pairs recorded to date)
