THE FINAL YEARS: THE AIRMAIL PROBLEM AND ABOLISHMENT
Formular reply card from France franked at 0.40 Franc (postcards abroad 13.01.1969 – 04.01.1971) addressed
to a member of the French comitee to safe the French language in Paris. The card was returned from the
channel island of Herm, which had a private mail service to connect the island to Guernsey. The Guernsey CDS
was placed next to the stamp not cancelling it, therefore the stamp later was obliterated with a line marking
«Cherbourg à Pa[ris]»
French formular reply card prepaid with 0.30 Franc (domestic postage 13.01.1969 – 04.01.1971) adressed to
the journal «l’Architecture d’au jour d’hui» (Architektur today). The card was returned from the US Army Post
Office, APO 09055, at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Casteau, Belgium. It is
unclear, if the postage was enough.
