                                Archibald Campbell Tait, Archbishop of Canterbury from 1868 until 1882

                   Born in Edinburgh in 1811, Archibald Tait was educated at the Royal High School, Edinburgh Academy and the
                   University of Glasgow. From there he entered Balliol College at Oxford, later becoming a fellow and a tutor at the
                   coilege. His legacy is that he cannot be called a great ecclesiastical statesman, but he adll}inistered his office well
  =                    and was undoubtedly one of the foremost public men of his day. He was succeeded by Edward Benson.
